     Joshua Holcomb was born on 7 April 1640 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..¹ He was the son of Thomas Holcomb and Elizabeth (__?__). He was baptized on 27 September 1640 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..² He married, at age 23, Ruth Sherwood, daughter of Thomas Sherwood and Mary (__?__), on 4 June 1663 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn.,, married by Mr. Henry Wolcott.^2,3 He died on 1 December 1690 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 50.⁴

     In 1669 Joshua was a "stated inhabitant of Masco (Simsbury), who had been Freeman of Windsor".. In 1670 he was elected Deputy of the General Court to represent Simsbury at Hartford and re-elected in 1671 and 1690. He received a Royal patent for lands at Simsbury in 1670, 1671, and 1690. In 1687 he was granted original tracts of land in Connecticut by King Charles II.

     Sarah Holcomb was baptized on 14 August 1642. She was the daughter of Thomas Holcomb and Elizabeth (__?__). She died in 1654 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 11 years.

     Sergt. Benajah Holcomb was born on 23 June 1644 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn.. He was the son of Thomas Holcomb and Elizabeth (__?__). He married, at age 22, Sarah Eno, age 17, daughter of James Eno Sr. and Hannah Bidwell, on 11 April 1667 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn.. He died on 25 January 1736/37 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 92.

     Deborah Holcomb was born on 15 October 1646. She was the daughter of Thomas Holcomb and Elizabeth (__?__). She died in 1649 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 3.

     Deborah Holcomb was born on 15 February 1650/51 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn.. She was the daughter of Thomas Holcomb and Elizabeth (__?__). She married, at age 17, Daniel Birge, age 23, son of Richard Birge and Elizabeth Gaylord, on 5 November 1668 in Hartford, Hartford Co., Conn.. She died on 26 May 1686 at age 35.

     Jonathan Holcomb was born on 23 March 1651/52. He was the son of Thomas Holcomb and Elizabeth (__?__). He died on 13 September 1656 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 4.

     Sarah Eno was born on 16 June 1649 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn.. She was the daughter of James Eno Sr. and Hannah Bidwell. She married (1), at age 17, Sergt. Benajah Holcomb, age 22, son of Thomas Holcomb and Elizabeth (__?__), on 11 April 1667 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn.. She married (2) Samuel Phelps, son of Samuel Phelps and Sarah Griswold. She died in April 1732 at age 82.

     John Matson Jr. was born on 19 December 1692 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. He was the son of John Matson and Mary Adams. He married Elizabeth Gillett, daughter of Cornelius Gillett and Deborah Rowell. He died on 23 March 1767 in Wintonbury, Conn., at age 74.

     Jane Matson was born on 9 October 1700 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. She was the daughter of John Matson and Mary Adams. She married George Hayes, son of George Hayes and Abigail Dibble. She died circa 1735.

     Esther Matson was born on 19 October 1704 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. She was the daughter of John Matson and Mary Adams. She married, at age 26, John Rice, age 29, son of Peter Rice and Mary Ford, on 11 February 1730/31 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn..

     Katharine Roberts was baptized in April 1690 in First Church, Hartford, Hartford Co., Conn.. She was the daughter of William Roberts and Dorothy Forbes. She married, at age 24, Samuel Holman, age 31, son of Thomas Holman and Abigail Rigby, on 14 January 1714/15 in Hartford, Hartford Co., Conn.. She died on 29 May 1740 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 50.

     Samuel Holman was born on 29 June 1683 in Milton, Norfolk Co., Mass.. He was the son of Thomas Holman and Abigail Rigby. He married, at age 31, Katharine Roberts, age 24, daughter of William Roberts and Dorothy Forbes, on 14 January 1714/15 in Hartford, Hartford Co., Conn.. He died on 13 January 1728/29 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 45.

     Benjamin Roberts was baptized on 8 March 1698 in Hartford, Hartford Co., Conn.. He was the son of William Roberts and Dorothy Forbes. He married (1), at age 32, Dorothy Pitkin, age 25, daughter of Nathaniel Pitkin and Hester Hosmer, on 26 September 1730. He married (2), at age 41, Jerusha Pratt, daughter of Jonathan Pratt and Mary Benton, on 13 July 1739. He died on 14 February 1774 in Hartford, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 75.

     Jerusha Pratt was born circa 1717. She was the daughter of Jonathan Pratt and Mary Benton. She married Benjamin Roberts, age 41, son of William Roberts and Dorothy Forbes, on 13 July 1739. She died on 3 June 1806.

     Thomas Bancroft was the son of Ralph Bancroft and Alice (__?__). He married Rebecca (__?__).¹ He died between 13 October 1626 and 11 October 1627 in Swarkeston, Derbyshire, England.¹ He was buried in the Church of Swarkeston.

The will of Thomas mentions his wife and children and his desire to be buried at the Church of Swarkeston. His will was dated October 1626 and proved at Lichfield October 1627 by his eldest son, John. His estate was inventoried at £275-17-2.

     Rebecca (__?__) married Thomas Bancroft, son of Ralph Bancroft and Alice (__?__).¹ She died between 1627 and 1639 in Swarkeston, Derbyshire, England. She was buried in the Church of Swarkeston.

     Ralph Bancroft was the son of Thomas Bancroft and Rebecca (__?__). He died after 1627.

     Thomas Bancroft was the son of Thomas Bancroft and Rebecca (__?__). He died in 1658.
     

Poet, and author of "Two Bookes of Epigrammes". In 1639 Thomas is of Bradley, near Ashbourne, Derby. He died and left children in 1658 in England.

     Dorothy Bancroft was the daughter of Thomas Bancroft and Rebecca (__?__). She died after 1627.

     Ralph Bancroft was the son of John Bancroft and Margaret Hollingsworth. He married Alice (__?__).¹ He died in 1616 in South Cave, York, England.²
     

     We find that Ralph Bancroft died intestate in South Cave, Co. York in 1616 and administration is granted to his wife, Alice. While somewhat remote, it is not improbable that Ralph relocated from Derby to York, and the absence of the name in that neighborhood before that time adds to the probability that he was a Derbyshire man who had crossed the border.
     While it is certain that Thomas, who is listed here as a son of Ralph, is a grandson of John Bancroft who died in 1557, the assigning of Thomas as a son of Ralph is circumstantial, though probably correct. We know that our Thomas is not a son of Ralph's brothers, William or Thomas, and it is believed that Ralph's remaining brother, whose given name is unknown, probably died young. We therefore have some confidence in assigning Thomas as a son of Ralph, however, we have a little less confidence, although a good possibility, that Ralph, the father of Thomas, is the same Ralph of Co. York who left a wife Alice.²

     Alice (__?__) married Ralph Bancroft, son of John Bancroft and Margaret Hollingsworth.¹ She died after 1616.

     John Bancroft was the son of (__?__) Bancroft. He married Margaret Hollingsworth (or Haryngworth), daughter of (__?__) Hollingsworth.¹ He died in 1557 in Chellaston, Derbyshire, England.²

     Margaret Hollingsworth was the daughter of (__?__) Hollingsworth. She married John Bancroft (or Haryngworth), son of (__?__) Bancroft.¹ She died after 1557.

     William Bancroft was the son of John Bancroft and Margaret Hollingsworth. He died in April 1611 in Chellaston, Derbyshire, England.

     Thomas Bancroft was the son of John Bancroft and Margaret Hollingsworth. He married Dorothy Forman. He died circa 1629.
