     Mercy Gillett was born on 8 February 1745/46 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. She was the daughter of Joseph Gillett and Elizabeth Hayes. She married Roger Holcomb, son of Capt. Nathaniel Holcomb and Thankful Hayes. She died on 7 October 1826 in Attica, Wyoming Co., New York, at age 80.

     Ezekiel Hayes was born on 21 November 1724 in Salmon Brook (now Granby), Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. He was the son of Daniel Hayes and Sarah Lee. He married (1) Rebecca Russell in 1749. He married (2), at age 49, Abigail Hitchcock, age 35 on 5 May 1774. He died on 17 October 1807 in New Haven, Conn., at age 82.

     Rebecca Russell was born on 6 February 1722/23 in Branford, New Haven Co., Conn.. She married (1) Ezekiel Hayes, son of Daniel Hayes and Sarah Lee, in 1749. She died circa 1773.

     Abigail Hitchcock was born on 26 March 1739. She married (1), at age 24, Capt. John Brown, age 26 on 1 March 1764. She married (2), at age 35, Ezekiel Hayes, age 49, son of Daniel Hayes and Sarah Lee, on 5 May 1774.

     Martha Cogan was born in 1648 in Taunton, Mass..¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Cogan and Joan (__?__). She married (1) Sergt. Peter Buell, age 25, son of William Buell and Mary (__?__), on 31 March 1670 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..¹ She died on 22 May 1686 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn., twelve days after the birth of her son, Samuel.¹

     Sergt. Peter Buell was born on 19 August 1644 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..^1,2 He was the son of William Buell and Mary (__?__). He married (1), at age 25, Martha Cogan, daughter of Thomas Cogan and Joan (__?__), on 31 March 1670 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..³ He married (2) Mercy (__?__) circa 1687.⁴ He married (3), at age 53, Mary Gillett (widow of Jacob Bissell), age 30, daughter of Jonathan Gillett and Mary Kelsey, on 30 June 1698 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..⁴ He died on 8 January 1729/30 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 85.⁵

     Born in Windsor, Peter removed about 1670 to the outlying area of Simsbury where he was one of the pioneers and earliest settlers. In 1677, Peter is listed as receiving a part of the "Hop Meadow" in Massacoe (the ancient Indian name for Simsbury). The terms upon "those who took up lands at Massacoe" were that within two years they should make improvements by plowing, mowing, building and fencing, and that they should live on their grants two years. In 1674, as one of a Committee of three, Peter joins his associates and grants the privilege to various Indians to hunt for venison in the town of Simsbury during their lifetime. "On a training day, November 29, 1686, Peter Buell was chosen by the train band of Simsbury their Sergeant", he received 23 votes from members of the train band in support of his appointment.
     1691 and 1696, Peter was elected as a Representative of Simsbury to the General Assembly of Connecticut.

     Abigail Buell was born on 17 May 1673 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. She was the daughter of Sergt. Peter Buell and Martha Cogan. She married, at age 26, Thomas Barber, age 27, son of Lieut. Thomas Barber and Mary Phelps, on 25 May 1699 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. She died on 30 May 1727 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 54.

     Peter Buell was born in 1671 , died young. He was the son of Sergt. Peter Buell and Martha Cogan.

     Sarah Buell was born on 22 January 1678/79 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. She was the daughter of Sergt. Peter Buell and Martha Cogan. She died after 1729.

     Peter Buell was born on 2 April 1681 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. He was the son of Sergt. Peter Buell and Martha Cogan. He married, at age 18, Mary Bissell on 30 June 1699. He died on 25 October 1703 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 22.

He married, at age 30, Mary Holcomb (widow of John Barber), daughter of Joshua Holcomb and Ruth Sherwood, on 16 October 1713 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. He died on 16 January 1718/19 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 35.
     

     Ephraim, along with his step-son and son-in-law John Barber, went west of Simsbury to hunt horses. They were unprepared for the weather conditions and both were found the following day frozen to death.

     Hannah Buell was born circa 1684 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. She was the daughter of Sergt. Peter Buell and Martha Cogan. She married Richard Sexton, son of John Sexton and Mary Hill, on 20 June 1706 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn..

     Samuel Buell was born on 10 May 1686 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. He was the son of Sergt. Peter Buell and Martha Cogan. He married (1), at age 25, Hannah Holcomb, daughter of Joshua Holcomb and Ruth Sherwood, on 29 November 1711 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. He married (2) Ann Orton, daughter of Thomas Orton, after 1741.

     Mercy (__?__) was born circa 1666. She married (2) Sergt. Peter Buell, son of William Buell and Mary (__?__), circa 1687.¹ She died on 4 May 1688 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..

     Mary Gillett was born on 21 October 1667. She was the daughter of Jonathan Gillett and Mary Kelsey. She married (1) Jacob Bissell, son of Samuel Bissell and Abigail Holcomb, circa 1690. She married (2), at age 30, Sergt. Peter Buell, age 53, son of William Buell and Mary (__?__), on 30 June 1698 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn.; (widow of Jacob Bissell).¹ She died on 19 August 1734 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 66.

     Mary Bissell married Peter Buell, age 18, son of Sergt. Peter Buell and Martha Cogan, on 30 June 1699.

     Eleazor Wells was born in 1680 in Hadley, Hampshire Co., Mass.. He was the son of Lieut. Thomas Wells and Hepzibah Buell. He died in 1723 in Middletown, Middlesex Co., Conn..

     Richard Sexton was the son of John Sexton and Mary Hill. He married Hannah Buell, daughter of Sergt. Peter Buell and Martha Cogan, on 20 June 1706 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn.. He died in 1714 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Conn..

     Jacob Bissell was born on 28 March 1664 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn.. He was the son of Samuel Bissell and Abigail Holcomb. He married Mary Gillett, daughter of Jonathan Gillett and Mary Kelsey, circa 1690. He died on 1 August 1694 at age 30.
