Heirs were children Isaac, Aaron, David and Abigail Dewey of Granby. Isaac, the eldest son, got the farm with house, barn and orchard 92 ½ A. Aaron, David and Abigail wrote a quitclaim to estate rights to Isaac. All four signed with an X. Then they settled with their sister Constant Rose, d/o Isaac Dewey deceased, widow of David Rose of Granville, Mass. for 50 pounds for her claims on the estate.
This 91 or 92 acres was on Bushy Hill Road but did not extend as far as Day

Religion/Church: Baptist.
Education: Signed his pension application with his mark (X).
Military Service: DAR; American Revolution Veteran and pensioner, 1776-1779.
Isaac was born in that part of Simsbury which is now called Granby. He married Dorothy (_____) and they raised their family on what is now called Day Street in Granby. Before their children were born they had joined the Baptist Church. Isaac's uncle David Dewey was a Baptist preacher. Two of their daughters, Dorothy and Abigail, would marry their neighbors, brothers Samuel and William Day.
There are no birth records for the children of Isaac and Dorothy, and, as they were Baptist, no baptism records. The Dewey Genealogy gives "about" dates for the children's birth with no known basis. A more correct version of the children's birth dates is obtained from their recorded ages at death.
There is no known record of Isaac's death or burial, however, his death likely occurred in 1837 as we find that his estate was probated on December 13'th of that year. He had survived his wife, Dorothy, who died in 1811. Dorothy's maiden name is as yet unknown.
Isaac was drafted for service in the American Revolution on three different occasions. In 1776 he served in New York City during the time that the British invaded and occupied the city. In 1778 he served as a guard in moving the artillery captured from Gen. Burgoyne at Saratoga to Farmington, Connecticut. In 1779 he served as a guard along the coast, in Greenwich, Connecticut. In 1832 Isaac applied for a pension for his service in the American Revolution and was given credit for six months service and pensioned at the rate of $20 per year. His application was signed with his mark (X).

Israel Dewey was born on 25 September 1645 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..1 He was the son of Thomas Dewey and Frances (__?__). He married, at age 22, Abigail Drake, age 19, daughter of Sergt. Job Drake and Mary Wolcott, on 20 August 1668 in Northampton, Hampshire Co., Mass..1 He died on 23 October 1678 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn., at age 33.1,2
Occupation: in 1668 Farmer in North Hampton, Mass.
Residence: circa 1674 removed to Windsor.
Israel Dewey, with his three brothers, removed to Westfield in 1667. On 27 August, 1668 he was granted eight acres of land on the Fort Side (South St.) at Westfield. John Pynchon's account book shows purchases by Israel in 1667 for "severalls for good wt. next winter", "1/2d Anniseed", and in 1671 "1d, Powder". He shows credits in the accounts by paying Return Strong 02-00-00, By Sam. Ball 02-05-00, and in January of 1672 by "346d Porke" in the amount of 03-19-04. Pynchon notes; "To these is a 12d. due to Israell Dewey & is caryed to New Book" . . . "Acct. here cleared".
In 1686 the widow Abigail joined the Rev. Samuel Mather's Church in Windsor. In 1687 Abigail married widower Andrew Hillyer as his second wife. Her death in unknown, however, In a deed to his brothers David and Joseph, dated 17 November 1696, Israel 2'nd deeds several parcels of land in Westfield, Mass., "given me by the last will and testament of my mother deceased". I am unaware if the will for Abigail (Drake) (Dewey) Hillier is still extant. It is not in Manwaring's Early Connecticut Probate Records. If Abigail did not die in Simsbury, she may have spent her last years in Westfield.
Abigail may have died before February 1692/3 as she is not menitoned in the will of her second husband which is dated 16 February 1692/3.

Thomas Dewey
b. before 1613, d. 27 April 1648
Relationship=9th great-grandfather of Norbert Raymond Bankert.
Thomas Dewey was born before 1613 in England.1 He married Frances (__?__),(widow of (__?__) Clark) on 22 March 1638/39 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..2 He died on 27 April 1648 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Conn..1
Immigration: before August 1633.
Freeman: on 14 May 1634 in Dorchester, Suffolk Co., Mass..
Founder/Proprietor: Windsor by 1636.
Thomas Dewey was in New England by September of 1633 when he signed the will of John Russell by mark, and a member of the Dorchester Church prior to 14 May 1634 when he took the oath of freemanship. His origin is often stated as Sandwich, Kent, but this has no documentary foundation. Thomas Dewey was more likely from the West Country, as were so many of the other early settlers of Dorchester. Since Thomas Dewey first appears in Dorchester in 1633, he may have arrived on the unnamed ship from Weymouth, Dorsetshire, that landed in New England in July of 1633.
Thomas married in Windsor on 22 March 1638/9 Frances (_____) Clark. She was a widow, but the name of her first husband is unknown, and she had one daughter with him, the Mary Clark in Dewey's estate distribution. She married (3) Windsor [2] November 1648 George Phelps, and had three children with him. Many secondary sources identify Thomas Dewey's wife as the widow of Joseph Clark of Windsor, but Clarence Almon Torrey demolished this claim in 1928, and demonstrated that the identity of the first husband of Frances (_____) (Clark) (Dewey) Phelps remains unknown.
Thomas died intestate in 1648, probably at the relatively young age of about 35 years. His estate was inventoried at £213 with £118 of that being in real estate indicating a social level of a yeoman farmer. The distribution of the estate in October of 1648 consisted of £60 to the widow, £30 to the eldest son, Thomas, and £20 each to the remaining children, which included Mary Clark, the daughter of his widow by her first marriage. As all the children were young, the final distribution did not take place until 1663.
